The Bedford Area Family YMCA day campers are able to explore creativity, teamwork, and leadership with a wide range of physically active programs that influence lifelong healthy living. They have the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor environment where they develop an appreciation of nature. YMCA Day Camp offers children positive developmental experiences and encourages them to form relationships with each other and with staff, building confidence through skill-building activities suited to their age.

Today, Day Camp is more vital than ever, with an increased emphasis on child safety, summer learning traditions, values, and social skills.

Weekly activities are created based on the themes. FUN FRIDAY’S will tie the whole week together with SPECIAL activities that can include fun competitions, awards presentations, carnival games,at the Bedford YMCA.

The 2024 BAFY Kids’ Club Summer Day Camp will open May 28 and run through August 9 ages 5 to 12 years old. We are excitedto offeroffering care for those students who are enrolled in the Bedford County Public School Summer Extended Learning Program (summer school) as well! The students enrolled in the Summer Extended Learning Program will have the option of attending a 4 or 5 day week. Camp hours are 7am to 6pm for the full day, Extended Learners will join after their school day has ended. We do not offer part day options other than for BCPS Extended Learners.

TheRegistration fee is $60 per child and is due withCOMPLETEDregistration forms along with a copy of each child’s birth certificate, physical, and immunization record before registration will be accepted. Bedford Area Family YMCAmemberships that cover the enrolled child have a 5% discount.

Please understand that we cannot accept paperwork that is incomplete. We cannot pull information off past registrations and all information is needed to enroll.

No registration will accepted if there is a balance on the account.
This includes DSS accounts.

Registrations may take up to a week to be entered, no child will be accepted without a completed registration that has been entered.

All payments will be auto-pay starting Summer 2024

2024 Summer Camp Themes

Week 1 – Our Planet
some activities/field trips:
plant a tree, making bird feeders, garden tours with tools and weather station

Week 2 – Young Explorers
someactivities/field trips:
Visit to the Safari Park,nature scavenger hunt, seed art, fort building in the woods

Week 3– Eco Warriors
someactivities/field trips:
recycling and composting, mud painting, Bedford firefighters visit

Week 4 – Time Travelers
someactivities/field trips:
Visit to Caverns, making time machines, local historian speaker

Week 5 – Music & Rhythm
someactivities/field trips:
Visit to FunQuest, chladni plate and drum activities, karaoke

Week 6 – Artistic Odyssey
someactivities/field trips:
veggie stamping, foil painting, stained glass crafts

Week 7 – Wonders of Water
someactivities/field trips:
Visit to Splash Valley, ocean painting, veggie coloring, bottle fountains

Each week will include an exciting field trip to places like The Claytor Nature Center, Local Farms, Safari Park, Splash Valley, SML State Park, Funquest, and more!

Full Day program runs 7am-6pm Monday through Friday (no camp on 5/27/24 or 7/4/24)

Additional Discounts:

• Children that are covered by a Bedford Area Family YMCA membership will receive a 5% discount.
• A paid-in-full discount of 5% is available for any registration of 5 weeks or more, registration is non-transferable and non-refundable.
